Jürgen Grözinger is a Berlin-based artist, composer, percussionist and curator whose work spans contemporary music, performance, sound art, immersive listening and interdisciplinary artistic practice.

Trained as a classical percussionist, he has performed for many years with orchestras and ensembles in Germany and internationally, working across the repertoire from classical and contemporary music to experimental and interdisciplinary projects. His extensive performance experience forms the foundation of a practice that has increasingly expanded beyond the traditional role of the performer into composition, curation, artistic direction and the creation of new forms of musical and performative experience.

His artistic work explores listening, resonance and perception as ways of creating shared spaces of experience. Working with a huge variety of instruments, including classical percussions, gongs, singing bowls, bells, frame drums, djembé, electronics, voice and spatial sound, he develops concert performances, interdisciplinary works, site-specific projects and participatory listening formats that move between music, performance, ritual and contemporary art.

Recent projects include Icons of Minimal Music at Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart Berlin, where he conceived and performed James Tenney’s Having Never Written a Note for Percussion and developed a new performative version of Terry Riley’s In C with an interdisciplinary ensemble including dancer / performer Ichi Go. He also created the music for the large-scale dance theatre production La Bellezza Infinita, combining works by Hildegard von Bingen, David Lang, Jóhann Jóhannsson and Arvo Pärt with his own compositions for choir, percussion and electronics, which he also performed live.

For many years, Grözinger was the artistic director of KlangHaus Festival Ulm and the founder and artistic leader of the ensemble European Music Project, developing international productions that brought together contemporary music, improvisation, performance and different artistic disciplines. With the conclusion of these projects in 2026, he is now entering a new phase of his artistic practice. His ensemble work continues in new configurations as Celestia Arc Ensemble and Celestia Arc Unit.

Alongside his work in contemporary music and performance, Grözinger is a certified sound therapist and develops Sound Healing, Sound Therapy and immersive listening experiences. These practices deepen his exploration of sound as an embodied experience and of the relationship between resonance, body, space and consciousness.

As a DJ and curator, he creates encounters between classical, contemporary, electronic, experimental, jazz, soul and global music cultures. He is also part of the team responsible for the WDR 3 Klassik-Klub, a radio format exploring borderless listening – creating unexpected connections within and beyond the classical repertoire, and opening up new ways of hearing and experiencing classical music.

Across these different fields, his work is driven by a fundamental question:

How can we create spaces where we can listen, connect, become more aware and share responsibility for the world we create together?
